Bethesda, MD – March 12, 2026 – Watkins Mill Ambulatory Surgery Center in Gaithersburg, Md has officially opened, bringing a new outpatient care center to the local community. Under the leadership of Founding President Dr. Christopher Raffo and Richard Robinson, CEO of MedVanta, and a partnership with nine founding surgeons, this facility will expand access to state-of-the-art orthopaedic care in the DMV region.
The addition of an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Montgomery County reinforces the Center’s commitment to delivering patient-focused orthopaedic care. ASCs typically offer a more streamlined approach to care at a lower cost than hospitals, resulting in higher patient satisfaction and smoother recovery paths.
Watkins Mill ASC features the latest technology and equipment powered by the digital and administrative support of MedVanta, the nation's largest physician-owned, fully integrated musculoskeletal (MSK) platform. The facility includes two operating room suites, a procedure room, and full-service recovery areas.
Watkins Mill ASC uses minimally invasive techniques and advanced anesthesia to reduce the need for hospital supervision, manage surgical side effects, and discharge patients on the day of their procedure.
